Remigration

Another topic I have “touched upon” is “remigration.” This word is a neologism, which means coming back to where you have been driven out.I've always said that I wanted a smooth ride, but I couldn't help rocking the boat. Rocking seems to be in my genes.

Remarkable People

On the road I have traveled, I have met many remarkable people. First I name my friend and mentor the late Emile Capouya. “Mike” encouraged me over the years and published two of my books in New York.

Herbert Kuhner

grew up in the United States, associating with the New York City jazz and coffee scene in the 1950s. ". . I've always said that I wanted to have smooth sailing, but I couldn't help rocking the boat. Rocking seems to be in my genes". As a subtitle I’ve chosen “Stepping out of line,” which is a movement my feet can’t seem to avoid making.

Ed Koch’s Course

Former New York Mayor Ed Koch cheers the construction of settlements by Bibi Netanyahu on land inhabited by Palestinians. President Obama opposes this, as anyone with ounce of objectivity and common sense would.
Ed Koch supported Republican Bob Turner against Assemblyman David I. Weprin, a Democrat, in a race for the House of […]

Rudolf Gelbard

Rudolf Gelbard is a walking encyclopedia of recent Austrian political history. He did not have a chance to study in his youth, due to internment in Theresienstadt Concentration Camp. In spite of his lack of “formal ” academic education, Gelbard is a scholar who has gathered valuable political information on fascism and anti-Semitism.. […]

Art and Ritual Violence

Herbert Kuhner
Hermann Nitsch: “I could well envision that murder could be a component of a work of art; the artist’s accountability would be on another level….Thus, art can consist of a crime.” Killing was and is beyond all moral judgments.”
Here is a segment of the Partitur of “The Orgies Mystery Theater”: “A 7-year old […]

Kunst und Körperlichkeit

Herbert Kuhner

muckraking journals and the fuzz
are party poopers.
who lay in wait for boys
who sow their oats
in the good old-fashioned way.

Nit-Picking with Ronald Reagan

Herbert Kuhner
I saw films with actor Ronald Reagan in my youth - a handsome charming hero, but he didn’t have the charisma to rise above B-films and supporting roles in A-films.
Asked by a reporter in 1966 what kind of governor he would make, he replied, “I don’t know. I’ve never played a governor.” Well, he […]
